FMUS — Feminism Makes Us Smarter
Feminism Makes Us Smarter is here to reset the conversation about feminism at a time when the world needs it most. It shines a light on the positive change driven by women’s movements across the globe. By lifting spirits and fostering connections, it inspires people everywhere to continue striving for transformational change. Building on this promise, a fresh, colorful, and optimistic brand identity was created. The goal was to evoke a lifestyle feel—a brand that unifies, one that people can embrace and make part of their everyday style. Wherever feminism and women’s movements have taken hold around the world, humankind has risen to a better expression of itself. Feminism has helped make the world fairer, better educated, more democratic, healthier, and more wealthy. All the while, feminist movements have deepened their practice of intersectionality and have lifted up, drawn together and galvanized increasingly diverse individuals and groups.
“ We work tirelessly for justice and freedom. We provide tools, inspiration, insights, and the power to persuade. We strengthen connections between individuals and groups working for real transformation. And we do it all with the confidence and purpose that allow us to see the world in a more positive light. So that more people, in more places, can become agents of change in a world that urgently needs it.”
Françoise Girard, founder
ABOUT FMUS — Françoise Girard is the founder and host of Feminism Makes Us Smarter. Françoise is an author, advocate and expert on women’s health, human rights, sexuality, HIV and AIDS, and feminist movements. Her advocacy and writing have focused on bodily autonomy, and sexual and reproductive health and rights—critical pre-conditions for all other aspects of women’s and girls’ lives. For over 20 years, she has advocated for women’s rights and gender justice in close partnership with feminist activists from Latin America, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. In addition, she has worked to ensure human rights frameworks protect and promote these rights at conferences such as the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) +5, the 2005 World Summit (Millenium Development Goals), and the process to negotiate the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals. She previously served 8 years as President of the International Women’s Health Coalition (IWHC).
